First Friday in many many years I'm completely sober

It's Friday night. I'm completely sober. I just had to share because I'm quite proud of myself and I know that I've only been able to do it this time because of reaching out here on SR and the wonderful advice and support. Cravings still come and go but this sense of accomplishment is very new and I definitely want to keep it that way.

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing. It is Friday morning where I live and I am sober too. Feels great to wake up without a hangover. I can actually get things done today!

Way to go!
It's a great feeling knowing what you can accomplish.
Waking up tomorrow sober will feel even better!

Congratulations Ash, I bet it feels great. The best part of staying sober on a Friday night, is waking up refreshed on Saturday and having a productive day.

It's Friday afternoon here, and I'm sober. Fought off a wicked urge to drink driving home from work. Wanted to stop at store and buy a six pack. My AV was telling me go ahead you earned it. But I fought it off know in that it wouldn't end in 6 beers. I realized that tommorow I would feel defeated and be off to the liquor store. I feel good about staying sober. So great full for this forums help. Good luck to you.

Friday's are difficult for me too. Its that weekend is time to get tore up from the floor up mentality(even if I'm at home drinking alone). Geez, how pathetic. I'm too old to be doing that ****.

Congrats on staying sober

That is fabulous, Ash. Weekends were strange for me in the early days of getting sober, but that quickly changed. The feeling of' missing out' is gone. I now cherish being free from it.

Like you ( obviously ) ,.... just knowing any craving is only a temporary situation helped me a lot early on,....

Beginning to believe , anyway;... they won't be showing up forever and ever was a great hurdle to clear

Thanks! It's definitely been a productive day and I'm finding I can actually concentrate on chores and even the TV. Now just gotta get through today and then Friday and Saturday drunk-days will be a thing of the past.

Still not sure how to tag and reply to a few people but I'm working this site out, in the meantime congrats to those who also made it through and fought the urges... it can be so tough! And it's great to know from those of who have made it into a habit - very inspiring!
