Stronger2017
I just want to say hi as I'm new. I've had some reasonably significant sober time before (about 3 years) but for the last 18 months I've been drinking off and on (recently a lot more on though). There's a lot of other stuff going on in my life (not all of it bad) and the drinking is doing me no good at all so I've decided I need to stop right now.
I've been sober for a few days and I'm now beginning to figure out my plan. I read SR before but I've now joined/posted (so that's something) and I'm starting therapy again this week (the therapist appears to have a decent background in addiction, which will be helpful). I'll also join the September thread for accountability.
Nice to meet you all.

Good to meet you, Stronger. Catching this while there is still some "off" is admirable and wise.
I'm glad you decided to post - I believe it does make a difference in how effective the forum is for me. I've made a habit of checking in twice daily on my own thread. It's a good way to be accountable and also to keep track of your own journey.

Thanks for all the nice SR welcomes.
I'm doing okay and am still sober (which is the main thing). I start therapy again tomorrow and I'm actually looking forward to it. This will be my second try and I want to make a better job of it this time.
Thanks again for the support.

Awesome! I'm so excited for you. I find that therapy and a recovery program (I chose AA and SR with a sprinkling of AVRT mixed in) work well together.
Do keep on posting to let us know how you are getting on.

Glad you are here! I, too, had some significant sober time (4 years and a couple of months) before I ever so unwisely went back to drinking. Been sober, again, since April 10, 2017. We are in this together!

I have six days. I was pretty tired yesterday so I had an early night. I slept pretty well and I'm looking forward to closing out a week, which will easily be the longest I've been without a drink (and it was never just a drink) in 2017.
