Long Holiday Weekends
I used to dislike long holiday weekends as the association was basically to spend most of it drinking. Therefore for the first year and half, I basically just waited them out. There have been some long days in the last 22-23 months.
This is changing ever so slowly, I am starting to find things to fill the time that is productive and somewhat enjoyable. It could simply be that we are very busy this weekend packing and loading. Regardless, I hope this trend continue because I am liking it much better than just shutting down for a few days and waiting for life to start again.

Hi, Thomas.
I posted on another thread that, in my opinion, anyway, we are bombarded with messages from media, advertisers, etc., that long weekends are FUN!
but that they aren't FUN! unless we have a drink or two or fourteen in our hands.
We are supposed to be getting together with friends, going to the beach or lake, have cookouts and, of course,
Drink.
I felt a lot better about long weekends when I retired, as every weekend is now a long one for me.
And when I stopped accepting the FUN! message.
Just be good to yourself. Do something nice for you and your family.
Eat pancakes.
If you like pancakes.

On a related topic, have you noticed that ads for casinos show young, well-dressed, attractive people gaming?
But if you actually go to a casino, the people there are mostly the opposite.
Similar with ads for alcohol.
I never see young, attractive people eating pancakes, though.
Lol.
Have a great Monday. It's gorgeous here.
