Trying Something New

Good evening,
It's nice to meet you. I go by the name of Ryan, but that's not important. I'm here today simply to try something new. I'm not a heavy drug user, however drugs have been part of my life ever since the ripe age of about 10 (I'm 19). I know that sounds pretty messed up, but it's reality. I've lived a somewhat good life, and drugs haven't affected me much in terms of how I've grown up. I went to school and had friends, the only difference is that all of my friends did drugs. My reason for posting here today is that I need some sort of push. I've tried to get clean before, but I always end up relapsing. My reason for getting 100% clean this time is because I'm trying to get away from my 9-5 job and create my own business (Shopify store). I feel like doing drugs on a daily basis clouds my mind to the point where I can't think clearly about my business plan, or I get distracted and end up procrastinating. I'm simply here for support from people who have been, or currently are in my shoes. Any and all replies are welcomed

Welcome Ryan! Trying something new sounds like a great idea. Like you, I started to wake up to the fact that substances (in my case, alcohol and pain pills) were getting in the way of me doing what I wanted to do, and being the kind of person I wanted to be.

You absolutely can do this. Reading and posting here will give you a lot of ideas about "new things" you can try.

Hi Ryan

You're among friends here - many of our members started young.
Like Tursiops says, its possible to learn to live without getting high and you're right - I think your business will be the better for it.

Make your house drug free - that would be a good start?

D

Thank you guys for the replies. I've been chatting with a few of the members and find it very helpful so far. I'm gonna continue being active on a daily basis and see where it goes. I feel like being part of a like-minded community is the push that I need to stay clean.

Hi, Ryan. Glad you are with us. You might have to get new friends. Peer pressure can ruin your effort to stay clean and sober and, therefore, your chance to have your own business. Think about what is important in your life. It is time to choose. Maybe one of your friends wants to get clean, too. Either way you have got to be strong! Together we are strong so stay with us here at SR.
