Chilled, just wanted to add my support. I am so glad you are getting help.
We all care about you and want relief and happiness for you! I know from family experience that OCD is brutal, and it's not your "fault". It's a condition just like heart disease or diabetes or others .. that can be treated. I'm so glad you are reaching out here and to your friend.

Here's an excerpt from an email one of my AA sponsors sent me today...regarding my sick mind....I was a mess over a bachelorette party I am going to. I seriously wanted to drink or harm myself because I felt so less than and inferior to all the other girls going.
"Stress is the reason that we end up with that strange mental blank spot. The amygdala, washed over by cortisol and adrenaline, knocks out the ability to reason. "
When we are stressed and full of fear....we don't react sanely. We drink. We use. When we are newly sober we don't know WHAT ELSE TO DO...it takes time. You're not bad or crazy...you're an alcoholic. Alcoholics without liquor in their systems still don't react normally...until they learn how.......and that takes time.

Just caught up on your thread and wanted to send some more support your way. Anxiety can be crippling, and sound as like you've got a few other things on top of it.
I hope your friend was able to help you get into the psychiatric hospital.

Hey all im ok no worries, utterly exhausted and managed to be sleeping a lot which is a good thing I guess.
Been on the phone to the Dr, the only way to get me in is to go through the system which means ambulance comes and takes me to the ER in Newport and then get assessed there and then transported to talygarn (psych ward near my house)
I didn't tell him EVERYTHING because I don't wish to be sectioned against my will, appointment made with mental health team on the 4th.
I am safe and have family and friends constantly with me around the clock.
Very tired at moment.
