Don't worry what people think we've all slipped and probably felt the same way at least I know I have.At least your posting some just quit posting like I did for 6 months to a year at a time ,but continue reading here then all of a sudden it clicks and their back like me this is a great place for advice and wisdom of people that walked this path before us they understand as do I. I'm very glad you're here Day WON then before you know it with hard work you'll be Day none.

BTDT! You're still posting and you didn't STAY down! That's great. In the past I've relapsed and avoided SR for sheer embarrassment. Take pride in the fact that you're latching on to your recovery and not staying down. This alcoholism crap isn't for sissy's! Lol!!

Hi Mummy;
I've been reading your threads since you joined and found them very inspiring and helpful--
especially the way you share stories and reach out so kindly to others.

I think most of us have had the experience you just went through--going back
after some great sober time and then beating ourselves up for it.

I know I did, several times. In fact, I had nearly two years when I blew it the last time.
I felt terrible, but vowed to learn from what happened and modify my plan for when I felt triggered to drink.

Most importantly, I realized that last time that drinking had nothing good to offer me or my family.
Just regret, pain, and guilt for a fleeting (and increasingly short) euphoria.

I revised my plan, made a committment to myself, and now and I have almost two years sober yet again.
The first sober time I had accumulated made it easier to get here this time.
My whole outlook on life has changed.
I now see myself as a sober person, not a drinker waiting to fall off the wagon.
The same will be true for you.

You can do this. Do it for you, and for your kids.
My mother was never able to stop, and that tainted my whole childhood
and frankly was the role model for my own adulthood.

You and your family deserve better.
You haven't let anyone down.
You are here posting and you haven't quit quitting.
That's a win in my book

The important thing about a slip is to learn from it. That way another one is less likely. Time to add something to your recovery perhaps? Or figure out what you let slip from what you were doing that was working?

I have read the threads. To be honest you posted very little. Most of the posts on there are just full of love, and people wanting to help by posting their experience, strength and hope. Honestly - you're already full of embarrasement anyway. You might as well read them so you get the positive as well as the negative from this xx

Mummy,

We have all been there.

all of us.

you can do this, if we did, you can.

Not making light, cause its not light, but its do-able.

I only got to know you during your slip and you have nothing to be embarrassed about -- you have a lot of friends here.

I agree with Berry, as I always do, you should read them. There is a lot of love there.

XXX

This is your recovery mummy.....this is
your life. Your sobriety. It belongs to
you and no one else. Not to me, not
to ur neighbor, family or friends as
selfish as it may sound.

No one is gonna keep you sober but
yourself along with the Willingness,
Openmindedness and Honesty to do
whatever you need to do to remain
sober one day at a time.

There are many recovery options available
all who what to be successful in their own
recovery/sobriety. You will have to find what
works for you most of all.

I can share with you that I didn't choose
AA. My family did an intervention on me
27 yrs ago anf I was placed in a rehab facility
to be taught about addiction which I had
little to no clue what it was about.

They broke it down for me to understand
then gave me a program of recovery which
was AA for me to learn step by step to
incorperate in all my affairs once I was
released.

There were many suggestions passed
on to me and I listened, learned, absorbed
and applied all to the best of my sober
ability.

I'm successful in my recovery because
I continue to maintain this effective program
of recovery in my life each day. Once I received
this guideline to living a sober life I then
began to receive the gift of the Promises
as written in the Big Book of AA.

Like I shared before, this is what works
for me, but you have to find something,
a guideline, program to follow to help
yourself remain sober and live a healthy
happy successful life for you.

If it means going into rehab, out patient,
in patient, then by all means go, so you
will get all the information about alcoholism
and how it affects you from head to toe.

Then a program of recovery to
guide you every day, every step
of the way.

You don't have to be alone in this
or by urself, but you have to do this
for you.

Remember, this is what works for me.

my sponsor one day told me,"youre on a premeditated drunk."
i told him to bugger off.
about a month later, i had the F-its. i was goin to get a 12 pack.
the only thing that saved me was takin a shower before i went to the store. in the shower i could see how insane the idea was.
and eventually saw my sponsor was right. not only that, i had been working on that thought long before he told me that.
pre meditaited because i wasnt doing anything for my recovery other than just going to meetings. i rested on my laurels.

No need to apologise at all!
Don't beat yourself up about this - I have recently relapsed. I went to have a couple of drinks, ended up plastered and not knowing where I was!

hey, hope youre feeling a little better today. Honestly I gave up so many times and slipped so many times, and went through the feelings. I think we need those slips to learn something from them, then add that into our plan. The more we get back up, dust ourselves down and continue in our journey, we are one step closer than we were before. Even though our sober count starts again. Then someday, it just sticks for good. You have done so well and been a big part of a lot of peoples experience on SR. Keep at it, learn from the slip and you are still succeeding. much love
