Hoping to do the pinhole viewing thing (something I did as a child), but it's also looking to be cloudy in my part of the world, so may have to watch it on CNN. Ugh.

Friends are going to St. Louis, and I have other friends that live in Oregon.

Hopefully you get cloudless weather Rascal!

We get 70% here.

Yes, I'm in the path of near-totality.
I got out my glacier glasses, but everyone is saying not to use them, you'll go blind.
You'll shoot your eye out kid.

We get to see a partial eclipse where I am. I don't have the special glasses so may just watch the world get dark from my window. It is exciting though, i love astronomy.

I remember that as well when I was a kid. I hope mother nature sends you a clear sky.

We are supposed to have clear skies in Calgary Alberta Canada. Here is hoping. Our weather turns on a dime though. Mountains predict the weather here.

In the path of 100% coverage during totality. I do have eclipse glasses, and they are so dark that you pretty much can't see anything with them on except the sun.

Yeahh unfortunately the total eclipse will not be visible from the UK, but we will be able to see a partial eclipse, if it's not too cloudy. But I live in Scotland so I don't count on it

Yes! I've bought us all some eclipse glasses and have been looking forward to it. I think it's going to be amazing and there is no way I will be missing it.

We are in the path of 75% totality.

I don't have glasses, but I did learn of an interesting way, other than the pinhole view, of seeing the eclipse happen indirectly.

The shadow cast by the moon will leave a crescent shape on the shadows on the ground. If you turn your back to the sun, spread your fingers wide and place one hand on top of the other (not sure why that's part of the instruction), the shadows you see on the ground will be crescent shaped.

Illustrating this idea, I saw a photo of the shadows cast by tree leaves on the ground. It was taken during an eclipse. Each tree leaf shadow seemed to have a crescent aspect to it.

I'll definitely be outside checking it out while it's happening even if I can't look directly at the sun!
