FYI, the glasses are really cheap and can be bought at BestBuy or Walmart. I'm sure they'll be in stock because of what a big event it is.

i guess I will experience the darkness.
I have welding glass, but I have read that that isn't appropriate.
Yes I did miss out with the glasses as well. Who knew they would sell out so fast.

I don't have glasses, but I did learn of an interesting way, other than the pinhole view, of seeing the eclipse happen indirectly.

The shadow cast by the moon will leave a crescent shape on the shadows on the ground. If you turn your back to the sun, spread your fingers wide and place one hand on top of the other (not sure why that's part of the instruction), the shadows you see on the ground will be crescent shaped.

Illustrating this idea, I saw a photo of the shadows cast by tree leaves on the ground. It was taken during an eclipse. Each tree leaf shadow seemed to have a crescent aspect to it.

I'll definitely be outside checking it out while it's happening even if I can't look directly at the sun!
WOW...now that is cool! Let us know how this turned out please! Happy Total Eclipse!

Ah too bad. Well like Dee was saying you can watch it on CNN Live.

I'm in Oregon right in the path and we're all set to watch! There's a big field about a half mile from our house so we're going to thermos up some coffee and walk down around 8am to get a spot to watch. The hardcore eclipse followers say you change after watching one 😆😆

The eclipse is on my birthday but won't be watching it as I don't have glasses. Plus we're not getting totality in Ohio and the weather is supposed to be cloudy.

I hope my critters don't look up at it.

If you don't find the glasses you can put your back to it and use the selfie mode on your phone and watch it over your shoulder.

That's what I have. Mrs. Tiles and her fellow teachers apparently "liberated" a bunch of them from the school science lab, so we have to be careful not to bend them and then the teachers will quietly replacement them in the science lab storage room on Tuesday! Ohhh..... illicit eclipse viewing...the best kind!!!!

We'll have abut 75% so I'll be sort of watching - don't have glasses.

Yeah us as well. No glasses either. Someone on here suggested that you can put your back to the eclipse and catch it on your iphone in Selfie Mode! Who knew!
