Smile Brain fog

HI I am 11 weeks sober, but I still have brain fog and at times my head still feels funny. It's hard to describe but it feels almost "zappy". At times I feel almost drunk. Does anyone else get this? Thanks!

prob best to speak to your doc x getting sober and staying sober takes alot out of your body and brain to get back to a certain state, that was what my alcohol doc told me x

your doing great for 11 wks xx

You ll get there. It took me somewhere between 3-6 months to feel consistently clear minded.

Well done on 11 weeks!

Congrats on 11 weeks

It took me about 3 months to feel ok so you're still in that ballpark - but, yeah, see your Dr if you're concerned

Gem,

The brain damage you feel sounds like that same I have.

It gets progressively better.

In my mind, if I ever relapse there is a chance that my brain will not recover. That means I might go insane. The looney bin. That is where some alkys end up.

It has taken over 2 years and I am still feeling progressive healing.

Hopefully, you feel the same as me in that this is a warning, a motivator to get them sober muscles strong and stay clean for the rest of our lives.

Booze is a neuro toxin. My nerves have been toxified to a state that recovery can take years.

Thanks.

The brain takes the longest to recover from the abuse, sometimes from a few months and up to a year or longer, though congrats on 11 weeks! Things will get better with time.
