Day 2

Hey everyone,
Been lurking for a bit, but this is my first post Over the last few months, I've had a number of stints under my belt, nothing significant, 10 maybe 12 days at a time, when I started to feel better and possibly complacent but then the cravings hit, boredom being my biggest trigger, and I'm just gone before I know it. I don't know how to deal with them, to be honest.
I've tried surfing the urge, and keeping busy but nothing works. It's really depressing. I've got pretty bad SAD as well , so as an option, AA isn't on the table at the moment.
Anyway, sorry about the moan. Thanks for listening.

I'm glad that you posted. I do understand depression and I hope you don't let it stop you for working on recovery. Many of us here have depression and being sober makes it easier to deal with. Have you talked to your dr about the depression?

There are lots of tips for dealing with cravings:

Hi random, glad you made the scene. SR can help you stop drinking. I've used it exclusively and have seriously turned a terrible situation around for myself by learning how to stay away from the poison of alcohol. You can too.

Welcome random0017 :)

You'll find a lot of support here - post before you want to drink...maybe join the Class of August support thread (in the same forum) as well? :)

As someone who deals with seasonal affective, I gotta say that sobriety eases the symptoms quite a bit :)

I haven't yet gone into winter sober, but the manic feelings I used to feel in mid to late spring were almost nonexistent this year.
