Rough day
Hi im 72 days sober and am feeling like I'm in active withdrawl today. I'm shaking and my head feels weird. I keep thinking a drink would help but I know it wont. I hate days like this .thanks.
I'd suggest the following:
1) Check the HALTS triggers. Are you Hungry? Angry? Lonely? Tired? Sick?
If any of these may be rattling you take steps to rectify that.
2) Write a gratitude list
3) Remember why you made the decision to get sober - this may involve looking through your past posts.
4) Find someone you can help. It may be someone else on the forum who needs encouragement or information.
5) Just just DO something. Sit there. (This will pass. Get comfortable. Close your eyes. Breathe. 'calm in 2, 3, 4... craving out 2, 3, 4' Think about how each part of your body feels. What can you hear? What can you smell. When your mind wanders - which it will - just gently pull it back to now and your breathing and experiencing this moment.)
Prayer is also a massive part of my own recovery, so I would suggest praying. either to God, or to the great unknown. Ask for help. Ask for that obsession to lift.
Wishing you all the best for your sobriety and recovery. BB
