Got an Award!!!

I'm so proud!

My job can't be done hung over. I am excelling. It was a unanimous vote from the Department for Employee of the Year. What the award represents is really amazing and I'm so happy and on a high. I was thinking about it and I have at some point helped everyone there.

All my friends want to pop a bottle of champagne. Go ahead! Celebrate me! I don't celebrate drinking anymore but they can if they want. Let them do stupid things, be embarrassed and hung over for their young children in the morning. Let them have the regret. My daughter is with my inlaws so she will not be here in the am and usually this makes my AV jittery. Not this time.

I have never felt more like myself and I have never felt more comfortable in my skin. I'm 37 years old and started this journey over 3 years ago and it has been the best decision ever. Really good things have been happening for me and none of this would have happen if I was drinking but they didn't happen all at once. It's like I payed my dues and things started lining up. It's ups and downs but if we keep at it things will get better.

I am so glad google brought me here. I have learned so many tools and I feel like I have matured. I started drinking young so I think my maturity was stunted. I feel like I'm growing. Thank everyone for being here and supporting the group and supporting me.

I love, love, loved this post so much!! Thank you so much for sharing and congratulations on your reward! I'm four months into my sobriety and I already know it's the best decision I ever could have made for myself.

Thanks all!!!

I don't want to mislead. I started this journey 3 1/2 years ago but the last time I drank was six months ago and before that it was almost a year and before that about six and then another year... Long periods. Only one time I was drunk and last time it was a glass, but I like to start count over eventhough I consider my awakening to have been March 16, 2014. That's the day that I was so hungover and put myself in a dangerous situation the night before after saying I was gonna take it easy that night. That was it I googled sobriety and this place came up. I lurked for three months and then signed up and my life has never been the same.

So...

I came home at 11 they all stayed out (hubby too, we had planned it like that).

Well, one got in a fight with another's boyfriend. Another one threw up at the bar. They were all slurring at the end.

Hearing all this completely validates my belief. How is that celebrating? Now they feel horrible inside and out. I get it, I used to be that person but at what point does that stop? It never does does for some and I'm so glad it did for me.

I left at the right time. I didn't want to be there for the debotchery at the end of the night. One husband left his wife behind, not safe. She was drunk... I don't like that either but I know he isn't his babysitter... I don't know. This is very eye opening and I'm not liking what I see.

Congratulations NTT! It's great to share stories like this so that everyone else can start to see some of the tangible benefits of putting down the bottle.

This is so uplifting and wonderful!

Congratulations. Both on your achievement, but also being strong about doing what works for you with regards to leaving before the mayhem ensued. Isn't it empowering being able to do that now?!! Love it xx
