Welcome to Weekenders lookinforward! - not long to go.

Glad you enjoyed the sailing Julia, it is great that you are enjoying new experiences.

Getting close to hometime here - it is very quiet at work right now, almost to the point of boredom. To amuse myself I have been ending what I say with the words "as stated in the prophecy" as often as possible. Been getting some odd looks.

I am finally to the point where I would not want to waste any of my weekend on alcohol! I want to experience the entire two days off work (mostly - still have to pop in to work) to live my own life. It's a precious short amount of time for that and booze would steal the rest if i let it.

Thanks, Sao. Today we had fun going on a sand dune ride and making some mosaics at an "art barn". The waves were crazy tonight! Would have thought it was the ocean if not knowing otherwise.

I'm in! When I first stopped drinking, weekends were the hardest time for me, especially Fri nights! Like everyone here, when I was drinking...Friday was my favorite day of the week. I didn't have to feel guilty about getting wasted...everyone got wasted on a Friday night after work, didn't they? I could sleep in on Saturday and look forward to a few days to myself. The problem was, I never did anything with my weekends but drink. If I DID try to go out and enjoy myself, I was usually too hungover or continuing the party over a cocktail at a restaurant, or anywhere I could find one.

Since I stopped drinking, I've slowly but surely begun to look forward to weekends again and I don't dread Fri evenings. Instead, I look forward to getting outside over the weekend, being active and doing whatever I choose, without be sick and feeling shameful for what I'd done on Friday night. Friday has become a day that I look forward to. I can look back and feel pride in what I accomplished at work during the week and think about what I plan to do with my weekend. No more guilt, no shame...I'm totally FREE!

Have a super sober weekend all!

I dropped my boy off today and sent him back to his dad's.
Heavy heart.
Back to work, back to the grind, time to keep knocking at doors.

Dealing with the hard stuff sober is a lot easier than dealing with it drunk.
Grateful I'm not alone this weekend.

Morning gang!

CreativeThinker - Fridays seemed so bleak at first but once you normalize not drinking they you back to being the best time of the week.

Delizadee it sounds hard what you are doing but it is great credit to you that you are doing it sober and i'm sure it will pay off in the long run.

Because I live on my own I don't eat a lot of bread because if I did too much of it would get wasted. So when I do buy some I will occaisionally visit this fancy pants bakery which is not far from me. Pricey but very good.

I have no idea! I recall once telling my wife I liked waking up with a hangover 'cause it blinded all the stress. And now I'm like what stress? You call this hard? It was the booze that made everything seem so hard.

This was a strategy I used in my first few weeks/ months. If you think too far ahead, your AV starts finding all sorts of reasons to continue drinking. Stay on the Sober Bus one day at a time.

I am so happy to be home. Last week was a bit of a challenge as my AV was whispering to me. All week I was dreading a project celebration dinner on Thursday that never really happened. There were 4 or 5 of us at dinner each night, the others order their beer, wine or scotch and I had Ice tea, water, or soda. Nobody said a thing, I was not singled out, I was normal, no one cared what I drank. I'm glad for the experience, maybe next time I won't waste so much energy thinking about it.

In addition to my work project, the next three days are huge for tying up family business. I've got my hands full, for sure.
Dito for me BixBees. Thanks for sharing that.

I also get up early each day and work on trying to improve myself before my work day. Both with exercise and self-study/projects. Trying to make up for lost time and opportunities maybe. Whatever it is, the routine makes me happy. None of this positivity would have been possible while I was still drinking.
Glad to read your post .
All the best with your early morning routine.
