Back to AA: Today's wisdom

So, I am nine days back from a relapse. I was thinking today how incompatible drinking is with other goals in my life such as getting fit and learning a foreign language and finding a new job. I made real progress on all those three fronts today but I kept telling myself I was too busy to do much about them when I was drinking. I don't think that's a thought particularly related to AA or the 12 Steps - it's just a useful observation to make when I'm prone to the misleading idea that drinking more will make me feel happier.

It's one of the things I say to people if I get asked why I'm not drinking - I haven't got time.
