Has anyone actually seen themselves in full

Swing when they are totally and utterly plastered, my hubby used to record me on the mobile and show me in the morning, that's what I keep In my head now, omg I could have ended up on you tube or something, but what a pathetic mess I looked, I didn't recognise myself from the girl I used to be, the happy smiley go out there and get it kind of girl, well that girl is slowly returning, it will take time, months maybe yrs but I will get her back

My wife took a still photo of me in 1991 when I was very drunk. I don't remember her taking it. It was not a good look for me. Amazingly, I am still married to her and she is not an alkie. I'm very lucky.

I also got very drunk at a friends wedding (lots of memory loss). I was an usher and I know that I was recorded on the wedding video. Whether or not I made the final cut on the video I don't know and never will as they live in a different country and we lost contact.

Its horrible to see ourselves like that, I couldn't associate myself with what I was seeing, a real eye opener

If I'm honest I would recognise myself had I been a video 'star' more often. I wouldn't have liked seeing it mind you and it might have made me stop. That said, the photo was 26 years ago so I've got away with a lot really in terms of a legacy of video shame.

It's true that as the time passes from a bad session we think 'Oh I was not really that bad' and so the circle continues as you say. If we could only remember the guilty feeling at the right time, that is when we are tempted again it would be a lot easier to say no.

No, I've never seen a video or pictures of myself drunk.

In a way I'm lucky. Cell phone cameras did not exist during most of my drinking years.

i dont need reminders of what i looked like or acted like when i was drunk. dont need to see any of it.
what i do need to remeber is the feeling the day after my last drunk.

if i dont remember your last drunk or the day after, i havent had it yet.

Yeah my hubbie recorded me at christmas a few yrs ago...mortifying! I was wasted, dancing around in my bra in front of my dad & step-mum.....bloody awful🙈🙈i dont think he has it anymore but i might ask just so i can refer back to it.
When im at work im surrounded by lots of drunk people & im hoping its gonna have a positive impact (finally) there's just nothing more unatteactive than a messy drunk!!

I've never seen myself in a state no mummyto2 but in a kind of weird way I'd like to have some footage to refer back to if ever tempted. I shudder at what my girls have seen that I simply cannot remember. I'd gladly take those images burned in my memory if they could be taken away from my girls. Sadly it can't be so all I can do is walk the walk now and believe in the power of time as a healer.....

My daughter used to record me and I had a very hard time watching it... I was usually yelling at her to stop filming me. But the look in my eyes and the general state of my posture etc... yikes!
Very sad that she felt the need to do that, and I'm so sorry I put her through that.

This implies that in order to quit drinking you have to have a bad bottom, worthy of remembering for a lifetime. I didn't have a bottom, but I don't think that means I will drink again. I also don't remember the last cigarette I smoked.

However, I do remember the feeling of being hungover many times, and it is a memory that helps to keep my sober.

I had a friend who would take photos on nights out, on one of them I had drank... probably around 15 pints, hadn't eaten all day, and I had taken what was supposed to be E but I think it was ketamine.

I actually looked so ill that I went to the doctors that day.
