Yeah, time for a name change, SD. You can leave the old smelly persona behind.

Wink 7 Days & 8 meetings later........

Thanks to Morning Glory for my name change, no longer a Smelly Drunk but Sweetpeacan, feels better. 7 days without alcohol feels good, but under no illusions as to what waits if I pick up again. Today I have a choice again and just for today I am not going to drink.

Glad to hear you are getting to meetings and have joined this great community. When I read your OP, my heart ached for you. It was just how I felt over two and a half years ago. With hard work and lots of help, I have stayed sober. You can too. It does get better. I promise.

TomSteve,

I would not have gotten through the week without the meetings I have been to, several of which are for newcomers. have a temporary sponsor to help me through the next few weeks. I can't pretend it's been easy, I am struggling with the chaos following my last binge, I want to "fix" it all right now!!! Can't though, I have to put my all into recovery, it has to come first now and hopefully the rest will follow.

Thanks for asking.

Sweetpeacan - This made me so happy. My last binge was hard to deal with too, but I knew if I got healthy - I'd never let myself down again. Maybe you should write down what happened & how you felt. Sometimes the memories of our last binge grow dim & we forget the horrific effects of it.

You're doing this! We're so proud of you.

Well done SweetPeacan. You've really been putting the work in haven't you. And it's paid off so far. So keep at it - it's true what they say. It works if we work it!
