This interesting, Chilledice. I would never laugh at your thoughts - it really sounds pretty miserable. So you've just now gotten assessed - and it seems a bit overwhelming right now that you're really going to have to put some work into this. But you don't really even know what that entails yet. I realize that your thoughts are probably telling you to jump ahead in time so you can just get started - just try to tell yourself that you'll get to start learning soon. Take some deep breaths - maybe try to meditate a bit? There are lots of guided meditation apps available out there - There's a simple one called Calm I like for a quick time-out. Might help you get through those thoughts a little better. Just a suggestion. The CBT will be great if you keep at it.

Yeah it is a rather torturous existence for me right now, I wasnt always THIS bad tho just last few months its gotten way outta hand!

I do breathing routines but it doesn't help too much, just holding on at moment.

This might sound shallow but in the two weeks you have until the 17th it might be worth getting some fiendishly complex electonic game or perhaps start reading Game of Thrones, anything really that would take you outside your own headspace for a while. Sort of giving yourself a break from your own thoughts.

Also stuff like jogging can help put things in perspective sometines, I found this out by accident when I was on a mission to lose weight.

nobody thinks your bulls8ttingor laughing at you,chilled-thats another thought made up in your mind.
it hasnt gotten bad until 6 months ago- great!! thats a sign that this CAN be reversed.

instead of playing xbox, why not get on the WW and start learning what CBT is and how to apply it?
IF you want it to stop, you will care about being on xbox when you can be starting the solution NOW.
nothing against gaming, but cmon, man! when do you want to start getting mentally healthy??

I get irrational thoughts too:
Time is constant, never stops and I can't stop it. Every minute that passes is one minute my kids and myself are closer to dying and there's nothing I can do.

I can't make plans with people for anything because that will mean I'll get some sort of sickness that day and can't go. (like i'm cursing myself)

So irrational, but so real in my mind.

I distract myself the best I can. Go for a walk, call a friend, play a game. Sometimes I'll sit through the thoughts and just breathe in and out slowly telling myself it's not rational. It seems like the more I do that the less frequently they come. It's miserable sitting through it, but once it subsides it's like a win.

Boy, talk about the fellowship in recovery
at its best. Folks helping folks right here
on SR. Guiding, suggesting, caring, understanding,
communicating. Not leaving anyone of our
friends down, alone or by themselves.

Keep asking for what you need, where
to look or find the answers.

We're here for you friend.
