Hi Thomas11 , I popped in and out over the months . I went through a bad spell of depression and wasn,t dealing with life very well although I did have the odd drink as in 6-9 330ml bottles of beer maybe twice a week I didn't go on a big binge for days . However I know how cunning baffling and powerful alcohol is so I am making an attempt at total abstinence again as I found myself buying a 35cl bottle of vodka on Monday for no apparent reason . I found the power to hand it to my wife because I know if I start on the vodka I,m on the way out so here I am . I believe it was fear that made me hold my hands up and surrender the vodka . I am under no illusions that beer is fine though , its all the same poison .

I hear you. I always thought that I could just stick to beer or just have wine once a week or just have 1 drink or just drink 1 night a week. None of it worked, and if it did, it would work for a few weeks, maybe even a couple months then **** would spiral out of control again as it has recently for me.

Good luck man, I wish you the best

Welcome back Thomas. It's good that you are so aware of where the road leads. Hang in there my friend.

Welcome back Thomas! Did you think about what you will do in place of drinking when stress happens?

I've quit Dee . MNK ,this is how my situation is /was , a few beers now and then but it always creeps up and up and I knew it was coming to the point of a full out of control binge and that frightened me .
Delilah this has always been my stumbling block the gaps between activities . TV bores me ,the weathers rubbish . I,m thinking of buying an old car and spending time on that , I don,t mean a big restoration job just something that runs and is roadworthy and making it better .

Thanks all

PhoenixJ , thanks for your kind words . Its true that I should never have picked up and NO amount of alcohol is safe for me however I am glad I saw what was lying just round the corner for me ,past experience gave me this insight and praise God I found the strength to turn around. . I do feel guilty for my absence from SR as you guys are always a great help .

I'm a naming 1st Aug my day one .

Thanks once more .
