Day 271 today. Not a milestone, just a really great day.

Woke up this morning hangover-free in a clean, uncluttered house. Husband and kids are happy and well. The sun is shining and I’m enthusiastic about the day ahead. No anxiety, no shame, no fear.

I’d need the combined writing powers of Shakespeare, Dickens and all the Brontes to put into words how much better life is sober. Clearly I don’t have their skills so I’ll just say to anyone struggling - focus on not drinking today. I want you to experience how good life can be.

And it’s still the same life. Same worries, same problems, same difficult people. But I’m different now. I’m positive and optimistic and I got my sense of humour back. So all those old worries and problems and difficult people – they don’t bother me like they used to.

Wouldn’t have got this far without this site. Thank you SR. You’ve given me back my life. And it’s a life I will never take for granted again

Great post! Love the analogy to some of our literary giants.

Keep going - it keeps getting better. Largely, as you pointed out, because we can do REAL so much better, with whatever real life brings.
