Pinned down

Ughhh sorry to be moaning to you guys AGAIN, seeing my therapist in August so you are my only outlet to share my thoughts.

As you know im battling OCD and lately it's been severe, I do mental ruminations in my mind about superstitious things and USUALLY I can mentally manipulate my thoughts out of it and find relief. Yesturday a NEW one came into my mind and there is ZERO way of manipulating my mind out of this one.

It's pinned me down completely, frozen with fear and panicking because I think "oh no I can't escape this one so il panic for the rest of my life"

It's unbearable at the moment.

Hang in the Chill. You know it's just your mind playing havoc. It's only a thought...breath! We're all here for you!

So sorry Chill! I know how rough it can be. The OCD voice is just like the AV.. it's ruthless and persistent but you can tell it to shut up! Hang in there.

Any way to speak to your therapist early?

Would it help to go do something? Take a hike, a bike ride, go to a movie? Anything to distract you from ruminating.

Worries often are cyclical. When you hear yourself predicting some catastrophic result, question it. Challenge it!

Is that really likely? No. Don't believe the extreme thinking.

I'm housebound with agoraphobia for last two years ( been out in my mates car few times but not well enough right now)

I'm a huge fan of the UFC and my favourite fight is on tomorrow so watching the lead up to that

I know my thoughts are irrational but I done THE worse thing today and googled cases of severe ocd, BAD move.

ChilledIce, I'm sorry you're struggling with this.

I hope you take a moment to read this. Morning Glory (our Admin) posted this and I have used it numerous times because I get thoughts that spiral out of control. I learned that we have about 60 - 90 seconds between when a thought pops into our head, till when it takes over our body. This gave me a tool which helps.
