Six Months Sober

Today marks six months sober for me. Six months ago, this never seemed possible, but with the support of SR, outpatient treatment, and my friends in AA, here I am. I've learned that sobriety is about so much more than just not drinking.

I don't have much to say other than thank you for the support I've received here over the past almost 11 months. I don't post here on a consistent basis, but I do read regularly, and love the support I see here.

Finally, for all those still struggling and feeling like they're in a constant "day 1," please keep going. Never stop trying. Change your plan as needed. Seek whatever outside help you need to get sober. Don't look too far down the road. Focus on right now. There really is hope out there for sobriety and a better life. Please, never give up that hope!

Peace to you all!

Thank you! The calm and peace of sobriety beats the craziness of constant drinking any day is the week. I'm so thankful every day to wake up sober. Every day isn't perfect, of course, but even my worst day now is better than waking up every morning with regret and trying to piece together the previous night. What a relief for my body and brain!

SoberLife,

Thanks for checking in and posting this. It's so encouraging! I love your emphasis on the "peace" that you've found. It's so true.

Very happy for you!

Great job on six months! The longer you go, the more sobriety becomes the new normal.

As someone still counting the days rather than months it is awesome waking up and reading a post like this. It helps me refocus on my priorities and gives me strength to fight my cravings.

To all who keep posting when they are months or years into sobriety, thank you!

Taevans64, please keep on fighting, my friend! I understand how difficult that early battle is, believe me. You will get there. Just never give up hope and do whatever it takes to get and remain sober. It does get easier the longer you remain sober.

My best to you!
