Day 61 dry and struggling with anxiety and depression

Hi I am new here.
After years of drinking every evening i finally quit cold turkey 61 days ago.
The first week or so was terrible, shakes tremers sweating headaches. But they passed after a while.
Now at two months i have anxiety, panic like feelings and depression is this the normal response at this point.
I also gave up smoking 21 days ago and wonder if this has something to do with how i am feeling.
Can anyone tell me how long i am likely to feel this way as it is impacting on my work and home life.

Hi and welcome stw :)

Everyones different I think - it depends on things like if you had anxiety before, how long you drank for...

If it's debilitating have you considered seeing a Dr at all?

Hey Welcome Stw.
60+ days is awesome and congrats on quitting smoking too.

I was very tired in the first months.... We all know tiredness leads to ill thoughts. Yes I was depressed and my mind was all over the place.... KEEP GOING !! ... It gets better,,, trust me... it gets better!

So hope you are resting ... Thing is .. Even if you are not tired. Give your body ample rest. It's a machine and with proper diet, exercise and rest you will be A-OK ..

Lastly, have you had a physical exam by your Doctor?

Stw- welcome. When I was anxious and depressed, I drank- in part to escape those feelings. So- sober I was still anxious and depressed. I use CBT with a psychologist to work thru these feelings, as well as monitoring depression with meds and GP, also a counsellor for the alcohol component and AA meetings for daily support. I use SR at night for support.

If you made it to 60 days go for 90. 90 is the magic number for me. It takes me about that long for everything to re-program. I think how you are feeling is totally normal.
