Dr visit Dr just came to my house, I told him my ocd symptoms, he didn't seem surprised and said it was relatively common. I have been advised to take my medication and he has set up a meeting with an ocd specialist at the psychiatric unit. I told him I feel hopeless and he said to never give up hope! I dunno how I feel about all of this! Can't see past the darkness! |
Hey - I wish I can say "something" to make you feel better. So I will just say... Listen to your Doctor and never give up hope! Plus, you are not alone! We are here and maybe there's a way we can help get through the darkness. Hang in there !!! |

Have you been taking the meds as previously prescribed or are these new? It will take a few weeks to ramp up but you will feel some relief. It's not necessarily a cure all, and you may have to try different ones...but it will help. 👍 Jules |

Put your trust in your doctor, Chilledice. I know a couple of people IRL with OCD who greatly benefitted from medication. |
Hey Chill, Sorry you're still struggling. Can you manage to go out for a walk or get some form of exercise? |

Perfect! My suggestion is to start out in small increments, 10-15min...then keep adding until you have continuous cycling for 30min. Log your progress. Keep us posted on how you're doing buddy. :grouphug: |

There are many of us who have had horrible childhoods and use to reach for alcohol or drugs to numb or quiet the noises that seem to creep into our minds and brains. I'm one of those who uses alcohol till I turned 30 and entered recovery via a family intervention and was placed into the hands of those capable of teaching me how to live a successful life addiction free. I'm 50ish yrs old with 26 yrs sobriety. A many one days sober incorporating the AA program of recovery taught to me yrs ago. Yes, I still have those childhood thoughts that want to come in and bring me down, but today I have many wonderful tools and teachings to help me get rid of them emmediately and to not allow them to rent free in my brain. Too avoid sitting and thinking, I have to find ways to get out of myself and help others. To take those self seeking thoughts about myself and put them on reaching out to help others. When you are working in your job, you stay busy focusing on the task at hand where there is no room to think about yourself. Right? Remember....all of us are survivors of past and each day we remain sober or clean, moving forward building a strong solid recovery foundation we rise above all those people, places and things that once tried to rob us of our happiness. I refuse to all my past to define me. I am a survivor and I am strong and most of all sober. No one is allowed to mess with my life and recovery that ive worked so hard to achieve. So can you...!!!! :) Work closely with your doctors as your insides begin to even out which will in time and as long as you remain sober or clean. Stick close to your army of angels here in SR to guide you with each new step you take each day. We are here for you to lean on for support and strength. :) |

I am hoping that sober time alongside medical help my rational thinking will come back. |
The mind is a wonderful thing. Complex but can become healthy with the help you are receiving. Doctors today have come along way in helping many who have mental illness, anxiety, depression and other illnesses. Continue to work your recovery program to remain sober and place your trust in the help and knowledge of those knowledgeable physicians to treat you so you can live a healthier happier way of life. Ive been watching American Ninja Warriors and listening to many success stories of those participating. It just moves me to hear how one was pretty much told she would never walk again due to some sort of disorder and would have to depend on Hospis care for the rest of her life. Of course she decided to take matters into her own hands and begin to change the foods she was eating and begin to exercise. Sure enough, after being in a wheel chair last yr, she is walking today with no chair or anything and was jumping around and rootin for her husband who was participating on the side lines. She defeated the odds and now has her life back doing all she can by eating different, healthy and exercising. Unbelievable, remarkable, inspiring story. And she wasn't the only success story. So many with past difficulties have rose to beat the odds. No one ever has to call it quits on anything if they have the willingness and desire to do whatever they can to regain their life. You can too buddy. :) |
Some great posts here. All the best Chilledice. |
