That is rough, I sympathise with you. I am so glad to hear you are speaking to your doctor, they will be able to help. You asked for positive stories, here is one:
My mom suffered from OCD in a bad way, she had the door locking, hand washing thing, but mostly counting. She would count tiles on the floor in public bathrooms, words on a page in a book, letters in each word on each page, grouping words into countable blocks, and on and on. Despite this, with the help of her doctor and therapist she was able to study, read, type and get through school to get her master's degree in social work. She is also now an avid reader who reads nearly a book a day (is retired) and has a huge library in her house which brings her great pleasure.
