As long as you remain honest in all
you do then you have nothing to
worry about.

Hi there, yes I'm a work in progress. I'm really excited with this go around with my sobriety. I've attained long term in the past. However, I fell for the AV after 18 months. So here I go again! I'm using SMART and it's just great for me. I'm listening to RR audiobook The smallbook, but so far it's just a bashing on AA. I don't want to hear why they think AA doesn't work, I want to know what their methods are, so if it doesn't change then I'll just lose interest with this approach. Dealing with these uncomfortable situations is VERY important. As these lil' things build up inside of me and then all of a sudden I can't take it anymore and then become very vulnerable to drinking to ease my anxiety. So it is dealt with now. I feel weird that I sent a text to them but what's done is done. Yay!

I've followed this story with interest, because I have a habit of offering things that I immediately regret, and I'm all too familiar with that feeling of growing resentment. Resentment + alcoholic = Bad!

Now...don't you feel better?! It's done, all gone, deep breath, exhale, "ahhhh..."

That's good to hear that you are focusing
on your recovery and learning how to remain
sober each day using a program of recovery
to help guide you each step of the way.

You took this situation with your pool
and neighbors and came here to SR and
asked for help and suggestions from
total strangers, and with a positive solution
you have been able to work thru it.

And not by urself or alone.

That to me is progress in recovery and
in your life. Small steps at a time.

There is a lot of folks here that you
can lean on as they share their own
experiences, strengths and hopes of
how they have remained sober and
have found success in their own life
and recovery program.

Stay connected and allow SR to be
your lifeline in helping your stay sober.

Good Job...!!!!

I noticed that the original Blood on tthe Mummy's Tomb was on TV last night although I didn't stay up late enough to watch it.

Here is the star of the film, the fulsome Valerie Leon in Shepperton High Street in front of a gaggle of bemused looking locals.
In the mid 1970s she used to be in some TV ads for a brand of aftershave so strong that I probably still smell of it. Optimistically it used to include a leaflet on self defence from all the women who were likely to tear your clothes off

Saoutchik! You have made my day! That is so hysterical!! Great stuff!! I plan to show the director this clip too.

aasharon90: yes SR has been my lifeline since 2013. When I made the decision to drink again, I went missing for a good year on here. SR has helped me in so many way, I am forever grateful. It truly is a wonderful place...

I have heard from all neighbors... they have all said they understand and the main pool offender, says that nothing is worth losing our friendship over. So major 'sigh' of relief. And thankfully they won't be back till next week so when I do have to see them, the ice is broken and we can talk about then or not.

Sounds good.
I remember Hai Karate after shave. It was powerful stuff, but I never tore anyone's clothes off over it.
There was a men's cologne of that same era, named Canoe.
I know, catchy.
That smelled nice.
Glad the pool situation worked out.
Funny how things take a turn. The law of unintended consequences, yeah?
Peace.

That's wonderful, Sunshine - I'm so glad all the P.O.'s accepted your decision without getting huffy. Well done - I know you're glad the drama is over.

Update... the neighbors have dodged me. **Sigh** I feel like the bad guy, but either they feel uncomfortable and maybe don't like me anymore, or I continue to feel uncomfortable at my own home and build more resentments. So maybe this is the way it's supposed to go down. And they are making it a point to be gone every week-end and this is the first time they got someone else to take care of their cat. Neighbor drama!! Sad thing is I really like them. So I will continue to be nice when I see them in passing. It is what it is... I extended the pool invite a week and a half ago but they all declined. Guess I'm not a cool kid anymore. I care but I don't... but I do... hmmm... moving along...

Sunshine - I can't believe it. I thought the main P.0. said it wasn't worth losing your friendship over. It's August - maybe the pool thing won't loom as large when the fall comes - & everyone can be friends again. I think they're behaving childishly.

Hevyn, exactly he said just those words... but the actions are opposite. It's still smiles when we see each other in passing... I'm probably being paranoid and self-conscience because it was a really hard thing to confront. But the alternative was to go on being the nice guy and secretly be miserable inside. So inevitably someone would be left to feel a certain way.

that could be. i have a tendendcy to do that without knowing the whole story, not that theres something written that says,'when theres a little turmoil with someone Tom has to address,Tom should be informed from the other party involved what is going on in their life and why."
they could have had the weekend plans made for some time.
what should they be doing to show theres no hard feelings? shouldnt they be going out and having fun away from home?

let it goooooo and go enjoy your evening.
