Day 1

Hi,t
Not new to SR as I've attempted life TT a couple of times now. My last attempt was last year and I lasted around 7 months. It did me a world of good but I finally succumbed to drinking again. My drinking history is heavy and has been dangerous in the past. In my early twenties I drank abusively but no longer do that as feel a lot happier in life. My drinking now is more dependency. I can go days without a drink but I think about it far too much. I really want to focus on my health now and I know the drink is slowly killing me.
So, here I am again. I want to walk away from alcohol forever. I feel this time I stand a good chance as I've matured, am happier inside, have more motivation to get fit and clean. I'll be here a lot for support and hopefully I'll be able to provide some too.
Thanks

I would suggest that you make good use of this site. Post and read every day. And if you feel like drinking, post here instead and we'll try to talk you out of it. :)

I'm glad you're here. Alcoholism is progressive so leaving it behind early in life will reap you benefits forever. Hang out here, post, learn and soak up all the support you need for getting free from alcohol.

Welcome!!

WELCOME! Support given. On the ground support is vital for me- isolating is dangerous. So AA, SMART, counselling. You have an awareness and are young enough not to lose your health, family, job, house.... Use this knowledge well. Learn through others- not by doing the bad stuff.

Good to see you back with us, maverick. It took me a few tries too - and finally I was ready to get free. You can do it!

Great going on day 2. It gets better and better as the days go by.
Stay close to SR... I have found it very informative and useful in my recovery.

Not that it matters much now but I went back and calculated exactly how long I was sober for last year. Thought it was 7 months but it was over 9. 277 days in total. Onwards and upwards.
