Using alcohol to get high

I am a guy in my late twenties, I did not really drink at all up until a few years ago. Initially I started drinking not to feel odd at social events like a work do or Christmas etc. However I did not stick to this.

I have been drinking from every month to maybe at most every two or three months since. I have been drinking lager and spirits.

I am a lonely guy and had been using drink to relax and generally not give a ****. Sorta like to get high and not care.

I'm starting to think that I'm wasting my time with alcohol and would be better just to not touch it.

However it seems after maybe I go a month or so now that's I drink again just to get out of it. It's getting harder to go shorter periods of time.

This is also risky as my father and grandfather died due to drink.

hello dangro, welcome to SR.

There are several studies claiming alcoholism is hereditary, so it's something to think about. Do you have plans to quit drinking?

Hi dangro :)

I drank like that too - the trouble is I solved none of my problems, and I gained a whole of new ones as well.

You're smart to want out now - welcome aboard :)
