Unhappy Another Newbie here :)

Hello, My name is Jacqueline and I really do need help with my drinking. I have been drinking every night for the past 6 years. Me and my husband split up and because I was lonely I turned to drink. I started with one bottle of Rose wine every night, a year later one and a half bottles a night and then the last year I changed to 4% lager. I currently have been drinking lager for the past year. I drink 6 cans a night, every night. I never have a hangover. This morning I felt some pretty bad pain in the liver area. This has scared me. It was sharp and pulsating and only lasted around 10 minutes. I have felt pain before in that area but it was mild and it didnt worry me and that was a good few months back now. I really want to give up alcohol. I had one can left when I woke up this morning so I threw it in the bin. I feel like I want to go and get it out of the bin. I usually start drinking around 6pm. If I am working I will drink from 8:30pm, even if I have to be awake for work the next day at 6am. I pretty much binge drink so I am able to drink all of the 6 cans before I go to sleep. Any advice please. Its almost 6pm here and I am getting anxious because its my time to drink.

Thank you MidnightRider. I am still on here reading everyone's posts but my mind is set on my 6 pack of lager. Its gone 6pm now and I am still sat on my bed reading other peoples stories. I have some coca cola with me. It doesnt help that its a beautiful evening out there and the sun is shining. Thank you very much for your advice.

Nice one Jacqueline! You're half way through the evening now. Keep going!!!
It's not unusual at all to count hours, minutes or even seconds in the first few days. I will never forget the last time I got sober and it was like time was standing still. I kept very close to the 24 hour thread and posted every single time I wasn't coping. I was "virtually" hand- held through the whole process and I'll never forget the support I received from this wonderful site. I still do. Every day.
I guess what I am saying is please please use this site. The feeling of not being alone is a tremendous help.
Rooting for you....not long till bed time!

Thank you so much. I havent stopped eating ice lollies and chewing on sour skittles, its helping me take my mind off things. Already i feel people care because where I am, people dont. Most of my friends drink. My friend just messaged me telling me she is on her 3rd large glass of wine. I didnt reply. I will explain to her tomorrow why I will definately be staying with this site. Its truly amazing already that I am not wanting a drink right now. I am sure its mind over matter. Thank you.

Thank you. I had an awful night though. I was anxious and kept tossing and turning all night. I am ok this morning, just tired. I do however feel quite proud of myself. It almost instantly makes me feel like a new woman. I am recognising alcohol as something from the devil and he justs wants to destroy me. Well I am determined to beat this. I woke with no discomfort in the liver area

Well done Patchygirl. I'm only on Day 8 but I can honestly say its not always as difficult as what you endured yesterday. Keep yourself busy and I'm sure you'll be fine X

Mornin Patchygirl! I am relating to waking up in early sobriety feeling tired, worn out! I had crappy sleep patterns early on, felt like little creepy crawlies were all over me, had a 'shaky' head, some nightmares as well, sweats, coudnt gt comfortable, overall bad bad sleep ( or lack of) BUT I STILL was better then when I was drinking! I knew that my body was going through alot of changes and was clearing out all of that poison and that it was going to take a minute to re adjust. Regardless, no matter how bad I felt it was always better then that awful self loathing, anxious , horrible hangover when drinking! It will and does get so much better and pretty quickly too!!!
Just a suggestion as you prepare for this evenings cravings....Get yourself something you really like to drink ( maybe some seltzer water or flavored tea or special coffee) and some other type of treats ( we do cravee sugar early on!), plan maybe a phone call with someone you havent spoken to in a long time since you can talk to sober people in the evening now that you are sober!, a favorite show on TV, maybe a nice walk or hike, do you have a dog?, maybe take him/her for a walk, do you have a beach?, maybe go look for driftwood or beach glass, how about an old hobby or interest...painting, gardening or my favrote BAKING goodies lol! Whatever it is....something positive to escape into for a little while, something to make you feel good about you!
You're doing a fantastic job! Keep at it!
