Hi, I'm new to the site
Hi, I'm a recovered addict and alcoholic. I've been recovered 6 years. I am married with 3 kids. My spouse is a recovered as well. He did it with me. We both have been in this together for a while. I am interested in talking to others who have recovered. I have no close friends besides my husband. So I don't get to hear a lot of others experiences with sobriety.
We are Christian. We didn't start out that way. But I do believe that God gave us the strength to quit. We just never joined the faith until last year. I would love to meet others who have faith as well. Being sober is work. But I have never been in a better place. No matter what struggles I face now, they are nothing compared to what I went though when I was an addict.

Welcome, Lisa. Congratulations on your 6 yrs. in recovery - that's wonderful.
When I joined SR I had no idea what to expect. I was desperately reaching out because I'd been drinking 30 yrs. & couldn't imagine life without it. Reading and sharing here helped me find the courage to let go of alcohol & reclaim my life. The encouragement I found here has changed everything - and I've never left. I find daily support and friendship from those who understand. I think you'll feel the same.

Hi Lisa- Welcome aboard! Congratulations on your recovery. My DH and I quit together too. Unfortunately, while I am moving forward and feeling stronger every day, he is still struggling.
Hope to get to know you better.

Lisa,
6 years is amazing. You and your husband are role models.
Sounds like you did it w out AA. Me too, so far.
I'm married to a normie and have a 14 yo.
Sobriety is right. It is how God intended us to live.
Addiction is a nightmare. Living in a nightmare is not how we were designed.
Thanks.
