3 years dry

15 years ago I used to drink very heavy and then stopped for a long time and then started doing it sensibly up to 3 years ago when I stopped to look after my mum. I was doing fine until last year when I started getting shooting pains up and down the left side of my head with high heart rate and nystagmus. Could this be related to drinking after I felt fine for 2 years and had no problem. I'm still not drinking and the neurologist has diagnosed neuralgia, but I'm very anxious it could be the start of wet brain despite taking copious amounts of vitamins.

Sorry that you are still anxious about this. Trust your doctor...or get a second opinion. But coming to a recovery forum for confirmation about your medical fears is unwise.

Carl is right. While I doubt very seriously your experience has anything to do with wet brain at all, you should really express your concerns to your physician. Be totally honest with them about your drinking history. It will do a lot to calm your fears. Best wishes.

Hi amuawad1 :)

Congrats on your sober time. I haven't had either of those experiences I'm afraid.

As for wet brain? If you've been consulting Dr Google I'd stop that.

None of us are Doctors here so I would either accept what the specialist said about neuralgia, or go for a second opinion elsewhere?

I hope they can confirm, diagnose and treat the condition for you :)
