Letter to Self

Dear Me,

Was it worth it? You should know by now that drinks are like Lay's Potato Chips and you can't have just one!

Here is the result of your drinking binge:

1 Dry mouth upon waking up...ugh.

2 Acid Tummy, coffee not as good as usual this morning?

3 Fuzzy Head.

4 Constant starvation mode. All. Day. Long.

5 You don't feel like doing one single thing all day, and whatever you must do is a drudgery because you simply feel like a sack of poo.

6 The division drinking puts between you and God causes you lots of guilt. Just not worth it, is it?

Why do this to yourself? Start loving YOU enough to never, EVER do this to yourself again!

From now on, when you're tempted, get into your bible and into your journal and talk to the one who gives you strength! You can do anything through Christ Jesus, who will give you strength in any temptation!

Decide right now to start waking up each and every day feeling your best! Look forward to that first cup of yummy, delicious, creamy coffee. Start your day on the right foot. Every. Single. Day. You can do this!

When you're tempted, please read me, add new thoughts to me that will help you stick to your guns!

Now, go. Continue pampering yourself with whatever food your heart desires that will comfort you through the rest of today. Tomorrow is a new day to refresh and renew. And remember this...After today, you will NEVER feel this way again! You go girl!

Love you oodles!

I must agree with you, coffee never tastes very good on a hangover, but its delicious when sober. I love my morning coffee.

Sorry you drank, but maybe try and learn what went astray and be on guard for next time.

Great advice Thomas! It was a holiday and I thought I'd keep it under control and have just one or two small drinks. I should know by now that that does not work. I am determined this is the last hangover I'm ever going through again. Thank you for the support!

Givingup - That was the biggest challenge for me - admitting there would never be one drink. I'm so happy you are seeing what needs to be done. Wish I had, before my world collapsed - it was a very deep hole to dig myself out of. Thanks for a helpful post.

Hevyn, Thank you so much. It is hard to finally realize that no matter how many times I try to drink casually, it does not work. No more trying to tell myself I can. That's why I wrote this letter to myself, to remind me that I'll be going down the same (hungover) road again in the future by trying to convince myself that I can make it work. Your comment made my.

So not worth it Columbus. Happy to know there are fellow Christians here.

PS Actually, #6 is #1 and should be at the top of the list.
