How soon if ever facial complexion improves in recovery

I am in recovery for 4 months now, after rehab and then outpatient treatment. I have a vanity question. Besides gaining horrible amount of extra weight (calories in alcohol + munchies), my face also suffered (aged, grey and dull). Now that I am no longer drinking, I started eating healthy (5 days) and will soon start working out, this should cover body improvement.
How soon, if ever, will my facial complexion improve in recovery?

Welcome to SR. Congrats on four months sober.

Soon I imagine. Sobriety will work on you face from the inside. So will nutrition and staying hydrated. There are precautions you can take to protect your complexion from the environment. And, if my wife's beauty shelf is any indication, there are ways to work on your complexion from the outside.

Good luck.

I'm only 7 days in, but have been told by my business partner that my cheeks are less flushed and better looking though I look tired, which is normal I feel.

Hi, congratulations on 4 months. Your skin will improve, it can sometimes take a while and feel like slow progress, age and genetics also do play a part. The exercise and healthy eating will make a big difference. I've found that if I eat too much sugar or junk foods it really shows up on my face, puffy, dark circles etc almost hangover looking really. There are also beauty treatments that can help, be worth looking into and speaking to a specialist. Or if that isn't possible google some "home remedies" its amazing what can be done with just some home ingredients (actually sometimes these can be better than manufactured products).
Peace X

I've noticed that my eyes look clearer and I'm on day 6.
I started taking a daily photo in the morning, every morning and I swear, my eyes look so full compared to this morning!

Hi and welcome AGakm70
If it's concerning you why not see a Dr or a dermatologist?

Welcome, AG! My complexion was awful when I drank; I had rosacea which spread to my eyes. My face reflected my internal anguish. Improvement didn't happen overnight but after 6 months my skin had cleared and my color had returned. There is nothing in life that sobriety doesn't improve, both mentally and physically. I wish you all the best.

At around six months sober I had people telling me I looked younger than my years. I know I feel better and that shows on my face.
