It can be done!

I went to a LOVELY wedding on the beach last night. I took my sons with me as they are well known and loved by the bride and groom. The wedding was so fresh and fun, very casual and easy.
One little hiccup, I went to the buffet to load up on all that yummy wedding food and then went to get my drink. Much to my dismay there was only wine and beer available. No water!!! (it was very casual as I mentioned, no bartender, just a pour yourself station)
Not to panic, I went to the bar (it was at a beach club) and asked if they had some water. They gave me a big 1.5 later plastic bottle of water. Which looked kind of junky with all the pretty wedding stuff, but I got my non alcoholic drink and settled in at a table just fine. The big bottle ended up paying off, it was hot and I didn't have to get up and down for refills, had my own refill station right there at the table. Slightly awkward, but nothing impossible to overcome.
And I danced and talked and enjoyed myself just fine. No feelings of being left out, just a nice enjoyable evening. Well, until my youngest crashed and burned over a game gone wrong/exhaustion and we had to make our exit
Anyway, just wanted to share that you can do it too. It's really pretty simple!

Mera you've come such a long way. It feels like a great accomplishment, when we can be a part of these events and feel comfortable in our own skin.
Thanks for sharing with us!

I had my first evening like that recently - where I enjoyed myself sober. I did all the things everyone else was doing, except the alcohol. Isn't it a great feeling?

Fantastic, Mera! Isn't it amazing how quickly the young ones can go from having a blast to crash and burn.
