I'm back!!

I was first here in 2013. Apparently i was unable to go with out. I actually started back to drinking almost immediately after singing up here. now 4 years later i am still a drunk, and really need help stopping. I don't know how but i am willing to listen. I need this to work this time i have gotten way worse than before. I now cant seem to stay sober more than a few days, then the binge starts. any help will be appreciated.

Welcome back Kevin. The progressive nature of the illness ensures that our 'sober time', if we are able to achieve this at all, gets shorter and shorter. Good luck mate.

Hi Kevin,

Welcome back. Did you make a plan last time? This is mine below:

• post on SR everyday-either replying to other's threads or posting my own

•complete a daily gratitude list everyday-there's a gratitude forum here on SR

•complete a 30 day audiobook sobriety programme called the 30 Day Sobriety Solution-it has daily action steps which I complete and it comes with a handy companion website

•I asked a good friend who has 9 years of sobriety to be my mentor and I check in with him via email, calls or face to face each week

•I have a list of tools/activities/exercises/strategies to use when cravings hit

Wishing you well x

glad ya made it back. heres part of your last post:

"I have been in the rooms but I guess I thought I knew better "

IF youre willing to listen, then might be time to get back to the rooms, get the big book, a sponsor and start workin the program.
it works if ya work it so work it youre worth it.

To me a HP is not a 'god'. It is the hope and belief that I am- and will continue to recover with hard work and support.

welp, the great news is the steps are in order for a reason and starts at step 1- we admitted we were powerless over alcohol-that our lives had become unmanagable.

what youre doing is putting the cart before the horse.

You can do this, Kevin! There are a number of sobriety plans that aren't 12 step; I don't go to AA myself now but it helped me a lot when I was in rehab and early sobriety, to be around others who are suffering and to just have human contact after being isolated with booze for so long. It's helped many but it's certainly not the only path; I hope you find the one that leads you to a sober life.

Welcome back, Kevin; very glad that you are here.

Hope that you read the thread to which Dee posted the link.

A plan could make all the difference.

Plans. They are very good for all of this sobriety business.

Welcome Back To SR!

My plan goes as follows:
I read and post here almost daily.
I run in the mornings and go to work.
After work I come home and eat dinner. I wash off the day in some way and then relax for the evening. Netflix or a series. I open a book.
I then go to bed.

The weekends are similar with some extra stuff thrown in there.

This plan has given me 3 months of continuous sobriety.
Whatever plan you make can and will work. Just stay away from alcohol and start living your life.

Dee has posted a link. Many others have given suggestions. Try them on and see what fits. It cant hurt.
