Sober when alone but having to meet people and feel have to drink

Hey all,

I've been here for a long time. I love the people here and the support.
Has anyone else experienced not wanting a drink if you are going home alone and into bed with tv, but if anyone, good people in your life suggest meeting... you feel you need to drink? Am I being crazy? I find it so hard meeting people sober, I can't isolate either... not at 27, not ever.
Thanks guys, you are all stars ✨

Hey Kelly,
Don't know if I can help much other than to offer my support. I was the opposite. I hated being around people and just wanted to drink alone while working on a project on the garage.

I do believe that all of our problems and troubles have a way of working out for the better given enough sober time. It's hard but many have accomplished long term sobriety. We are here for you

Hey Kelly, for me I needed to break the routine, I'd being doing the same things for years and so to expect to suddenly not have similar feelings in certain situations over night wasn't going to happen, I needed time to adjust to a Sober life.

The main thing is to protect your Sobriety, if you struggle and risk drinking then some time away from those situations might be the solution, but Sobriety doesn't have to mean isolation, you can enjoy people and life without a drink in your hand!!

Sorry you're struggling. Are you still going to AA? If so, did you find a sponsor and start the step work yet?

How are you meeting people? If it's in bars or drinking situations maybe you could try some different ways of socialising. It's pretty tedious socialising with people who are drinking when in early recovery even if it's not a trigger to drink ourselves.
