Long Days Long Nights We Can Stay Sober Weekender 16-18 June

It was a warm and humid night and I am up early today. Sunrise over the canal
Just catching up on the most recent few pages of the thread...
Thanks for your thoughts about my dog, Sao. It's true that we were lucky to have him live past his life expectancy. We feel fortunate.
STD, yes, I need to take comfort in that he has had a good, long life. I know of a lot of greyhounds that have died much earlier (usually due to cancer). When our guy had adenocarcinoma of the stomach, we weren't sure—even after surgery—how much longer we'd have him. But it's been an extra 2 fabulous years of his joy and companionship.
Purplrks, thanks for your thoughts...greyhounds are great! They don't require as much exercise as most people think, just need to keep them on leash lest they spot a rabbit or squirrel...
Oh, LadyBlue! My heart goes out to you. I am only beginning to understand how difficult these decisions are. It sounds like you made the right call, but to have to make that decision in the moment must have been heartwrenching. You, too, are in my thoughts. Sending you an infinity + 1 supply of virtual hugs.
Gilmer, thanks for the hug. : )
BixBees, Your words about how losing beloved furry animal friends "hits a soft underbelly on us - undefended territory" are so true. I had never thought about it like that, but that is exactly how it feels.
Thanks everyone for your encouragement and support. This week will be our last with him; I'm going to spend time writing every day as a way to help try to prepare myself just a little for when the time comes for us help him over to the bridge on Saturday (we found a vet who will come to our home).
I wrote a piece tonight and posted in Newcomer's. If anyone is interested in reading, it is here:

Morning guys,Sorry that I didn't check in yesterday....after having a few days of feeling quite ok I've felt awful since Thursday. Yesterday was terrible I just kept crying and had a job to hold it all together.
Hope everyone is ok. Hugs from me.

30+C again today. Part of a nearby main road decided to explode, it seems like it was an electrical fire.
Pavement explodes yards from pedestrians and cars in Old Street | London Evening Standard

I remember something like that happening a few years ago, in front of a lady walking along the footpath - she thought a meteor had landed! but it turned out to have been an underground electrical cable exploding.
Interesting!
Interesting!
Hi, all. Hope this note finds you well.
Petals, forgive me if this is something you've discussed and I missed, but have you talked to a physician about screening for depression? (Again, if I missed something, I'm sorry.)

Hullo Weekenders,
Thanks to Sao for being the muse for tonight's (again lengthy) post about my sweet pup who is soon to cross over to the bridge. Can read here if interested:

Hi, weekenders.
What's the thing about camembert?
Just back from the gym going to bed now. Extremely emotionally exhausted.
See you)

It is going the way of the dinosaurs only this is much more serious as you couldn't eat a dinosaur (unless you were another dinosaur I guess)

Gorgeous photo , wow what a view.
Thanks for your concern ven, like most of us here I have issues going back many years and I'm doing my best to work through them.
Lousy day yesterday with car problems and useless car recovery service but 5 hours and one small panic attack later, I finally managed to get Mr p' s car to the garage..... it's less than a mile from where it broke down..... but I managed to not be too late at work. Was a very very long day.
Worked very hard on gratitude to try and hold it together. Hope everyone is ok.
Time to get up here... seems a bit cooler , phew!
