Over 7 months sober and still extremely tired
Hi everyone

SWTPEA.
Welcome back SWTPEA, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Congrats on 7 months and your new job though, that's big news!
Regarding your energy - there are a whole host of possibilities there. It does take time for our bodies to heal, but there are so many other factors to consider like Diet, sleep, amount of exercise, etc. Have you been in for a health screening to make sure things are OK from your general health standpoint?

You'll get your energy back. You mentioned you recently took on a full-time position - you shouldn't underestimate just how much energy that is taking up. Give yourself time to heal.
Congrats SWTPEA61 on seven months. I drank for decades, and it took a good long while for recovery to kick in. I learned to listen to my body more in recovery, and not push it if didn't seem to be up to it. I still get low energy periods after two years. It still beats being hungover all the time.
7 months sober, how many years did ya drink? Our bodies take a while to heal!!! Give yourself 7 more months and see how you feel. Be aware of your diet, exercise(s), sleep, etc.
Lots of healing going on! You've made it through a hangover or two? You can make it through the first few years of sobriety!

Sometimes the energy is there alright, it is just being used the wrong way. Worry, resentment, self pity, thinking about the future, stewing over the past are ways that a huge amount of energy is wasted.

Hey Swtpea! Just wrote a lengthy post and lost it so I'll just summarise :
- I'm 7 months sober too
- I was feeling exhausted too
- I was certain there was something seriously wrong with me so went for blood tests
- got the results last week and it turns out I'm perfectly healthy
- since getting the medical all clear I'm feeling much better
- worry zaps energy
- the human body is amazing in that in can heal
- whilst it's healing we will feel tired
- it will take longer than 7 months for us to feel normal
- definitely go for blood tests to put your mind at rest
- I wish you lots of luck and congratulate you on 7 months. I know it's not easy.
Going to post this before I lose this message and throw my phone out the window

9 months here and have exactly the same.
I had all the blood tests done and all perfect amazingly considering how I feel
I have anxiety issues and am lead to believe the fatigue is related.
worrying so much can have a disastrous affect on our adrenal glands
google, 'adrenal fatigue' for more info

I also was extremely fatigue at 7 months, but the saying "this too shall pass" is what got me through it. Now I'm a year sober and feeling much better, my energy level started going up around 9 months sober. Hope this helps and good luck to you.
