Question...

Hello. I have been sober for almost six months. Long before I started drinking, I had sleep problems. I have been on various sleep aids for years. In Recovery, I still take a sleep-aid nightly. Between 100mg and 125mg of Benadryl. I do not get "high" nor do I want to. I have a strong fear of not getting to sleep, and my therapist and I are working on it. Is this a relapse? Am I not being honest about my program? I have co-occuring mental health issues, and I was told that the sleep issue is more about mental health than sobriety, but I suppose I am just...worried. I don't know.

Congratulations on six months, C.
Welcome.
I would stay away from alcohol, take what you need to sleep for now, and keep working with your therapist to find a solution for your fears about sleeping.
Peace.

If you're six months sober and only taking benadryl for sleep, I see no problems with that. I used to take that but found that after a while, it had the opposite effect.

Welcome to the family and congrats on six months sober! :scoregood

Well, you gotta sleep. If your doc is okay with it, go for it C.

Welcome, C92.

I don't see the sleep aid as any form of relapse.

Keep working with your therapist.

With prolonged sobriety, you may find that you can cut back on the sleep aid.

Again, welcome :)
