Day 7!
Day 7!
When was the last time I was sober for 7 days? I don't know, but it's been a long, long time. Day 7 is a wonderful thing to wake up to! You folks are making a big difference to me. I'm one of those high functioning secret drinkers and no one in my life knows I drink so checking in here, even just to say hello, is a huge help.
Good for checking in. High functioning is A deception... For me it meant always having to check others were okay- because that would indicate they did not know how much I drank. I looked normal- so I was clever and justified. They knew, I wasn't.
Las,
I'm curious how you hid your drinking from everyone?
Being drunk has some teltail signs.
Curious also about your drinking history.
I don't think this info will blow your cover.
I honestly can't think of a way, without being a hacker or an admin, to figure out who someone is.
Even then, unless a person routinely performs a critical task drunk, e.g. driving school kids, brain surgery etc, nobody really cares.
Thanks.

I was just a solitary drinker - never drank in public, never drank at parties, just went home every day after work, got hammered and went to bed. Never had any problems at work or sick days, but I certainly didn't have much of a life aside from that. I'd try to do other things on the weekends but what really scared me was I started "doubling" - get up Saturday, drink, go to bed, get up Saturday late afternoon, drink, go to bed. I'd generally toss any remaining booze out Sunday morning so I'd be fairly normal by Monday, but Monday after work I'd go right back to the schedule.
Glad to be spending my Saturday with you folks instead!

way to go, Lascaux!
i was a solitary drinker, too, and nobody knew.
so it as a bit odd when, after being sober a while, i told a few people about this exciting sobriety- thing i was doing and had to disclose first that i'm an alcoholic.
keep going, you'll find your way.

Congrats on 7 days, fellow Tarheel!
I also mostly drank alone, so when I quit drinking there was a lot of "why?" I never missed work, kept the bills paid, all that ... Though the more astute folks knew exactly "why."
