1 week / day 7

Signed up to this forum when I stopped drinking . Last Friday was the last bit of alcohol to pass me..

For the last year I thought I had hit rock bottom I was totally wrong , in the last month I lost everything , job, friends , family ..

Since being sober , I have fought the withdrawal symptoms which were bad for the first 2 days now non existent , had a job interview on day 5 which by the time I was feeling I'd say 60% the real me and it went really well , was confident , assured and resulted in my securing the job on the same day ,
Still have a court case next week for drink driving but I'm facing it sober and facing up to what I have done

JP2- me too, everything lost...including health. I find I NEED support for sobriety. Counsellor and meetings- plus a LOT of recovery homework and SR.

I thought I had lost everything possible before but even I took it to another level, felt I needed someone to be there with me to keep off alcohol , that would never work. Had to learn to do it myself well still learning , there has been alot of temptation I.e flatmates alcohol in the flat , spare time , I've just kept busy, going out with my brother working. Going to AA .. you need to find the determination to beat this I really think I have this time , I am working on building me up-to the person I know and others know I am then when I am ready will take on the rest of everything... day at a time is all I can really advise

After 16 months sober- I NEED to be reminded every day- that alcohol took me to a place I would not wish on anyone. That acceptance of help/support of others is a strength.
