Pour yourself a shot of Self Respect Weekender 10th - 12th June
Some inspiring posts here, and for those struggling remember we are all behind you x
My self respect weekender is a-ma-zing.
This time yesterday I was waiting to register at a job agency. By lunchtime I had a confirmed job starting on Monday. It is working 5pm-1am 5 days out of 7 which covers my 'trigger time' (when loneliness kicks in of an evening).
I followed that up with a haircut, ears pierced and new glasses (eye glasses, not wine glasses!)
Today I'm taking my mum to an out of town shopping centre and then picking up a set top box for my TV at home which has 250 box sets to give me plenty to watch when I AM at a loose end. Think my waistline will suffer as initially will have lots of 'naughty nibbles' so I am doing something with my hands.
Tomorrow will be the shaky day. Picking my son up from work at 4pm and then out for a bite to eat. After I drop him at his house I'll be heading off home and will be on my own for the first time since Tuesday morning.
Stick in there everyone, it is worth it x

Good morning everyone! Good seeing all the newcomers too
Thank you Venecia, quitting smoking is something I thought I'd never do. Ever. This last cold proved to me how progressively bad my lungs have gotten. It was enough to scare me into saying that's it, I'm done. It hasn't been easy but each day the benefits and how different I feel are the motivation.
I think this is the first weekend in a while we're going to have nice weather. Hmmmmmmmmm, what to do, what to do. Thankful that because I don't drink I have so many good possibilities.
Have a great weekend everyone!

At first that photo made me think of Clockwork Orange Sao.
My office is a cubicle farm. The lady behind me is not much older than myself but a heavy smoker. She is constantly hacking her lungs out. I keep expecting to hear a thud as she drops dead right in the office. Thing is, she blames the hacking on the air. It's to dry, to cold, it's dusty or to warm or to humid. She has maintenance in often fiddling with air vents. We've had the air tested and it's fine. She can also be a bitter old cow and everyone knows it a useless effort to spell out the truth to her.

Lol! I used to know a person who would drink as much as me (ie loads) and when he was feeling terrible the next day would blame it on a "dodgy" ham sandwich or a "bad" peanut but never on the 8 pints of lager he drank.
Good to see you Badger & StartAnew.
I went to the scene of the terrorist attack at lunctime, it was rather moving.

WOW Sao- What a picture. After the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, I didn't go into the city for quite some time. No doubt I was too busy getting buzzed. Thanks for sharing.
Every Sunday I watch one of my favorite tv shows, CBS Sunday Morning. I woke up early this morning and ran to the store to get coffee...can't watch my show without coffee. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that today is Saturday, not Sunday. Ugh! Talk about brain fog!
Going for my workout shortly. The weather is going to be hot and sunny here. It will definitely be a pool day...maybe a BBQ tonight. Whatever the day brings, I'll be enjoying it sober!
Enjoy all!

Bombings suck.
STD- perhaps ask your co worker if when she dies- could she please do it quietly and in an area where her carcass can be hauled away with a minimum of fuss. As to the whining- I have been crapping on about CBT stuff I am doing as homework. One method to deal with whining- is just to agree with everything they say- then they got no where to go with what to whine about.

Hi, weekenders.
You just won't believe what kind of a week I had.
It still seems to be some surreal nightmare.
I am too tires to go into details now, and almost falling asleep.
And tomorrow I am getting my thyroid biopsy results and I am nervous.
See you.
Thank you , Sao, for the thread.
Self-respect - I need it so much now.

Just popping in for some sanity.
I've registered on a diet forum... May have to leave as all they seem to go on about is wine....
I was hoping for some support with the 5.2 fast diet. Guess I'm better looking on here for some support.
Take care everyone.

SAO I was meaning to share this before ~ someone else dressed up as the Alice Cooper band for Halloween ~ the boys from Godsmack:
The blond is my favorite ~ the drummer but don't get me started! (Just ask the rest of the March 2016 class)
I've had lots of coffee today......
Tetra you do have friends! I'll send you a friend request right now!

Last time I posted was in your sober Easter weekend challenge, unfortunately my addiction has been the stronger wolf lately.
I am here again to show that I still want this and I need to fight harder to get this.
Last night I laid in bed so broken in spirit, I told myself that, "I want to live, not die" so here on day 1 again, I am going to give this all I have.

Purplrks the Godsmack boys look a lot more realistic (and scary) than I do, mind you Mr Furnier himself, a fellow golfer, is not that scary anymore. One of us I believe when it comes to addictions.
Petals I am sorry to hear about your husband, that is not very considerate of him. I hope you can get some sleep soon.
Good to see you Time2, few people seem to be able to quit at the first attempt, I know I didn't but you are trying and that is the most important single thing when it comes to making it stick.
12.57pm Bedtime for this Weekender, sober Sunday on it's way.
