Sobriety video message to my future self
 

So I had the idea to record a video message that I can watch when I experience cravings and the thought to drink enters my head. After a binge this past Saturday I experienced overwhelming anxiety which lasted a number of days, and due to my behaviour during a binge a few weeks ago I am riddled with immense guilt, shame and regret. I wanted to capture all of the above as I know that with the passing of time the sharp edges of regretful behaviour and the physical and emotional effects of a binge can soften, and I wanted a way of reminding myself why I have made the decision to embrace sobriety. Short of bottling these feelings I thought recording a video message on my phone would be the next best thing. So I have just recorded it and it is at the top of my list of things to do when I am tempted to drink, experience cravings or begin to kid myself that it would be nice to have 'just one drink'.

That sounds like a good idea.
