Hugs petals. A few of us have had drinking dreams recently, I think they are reminders from our subconscious of how bad things would be. That is what I choose to think anyway.

9.45pm and still light (just about). Another weekend safely negotiated.

Going out today London seemed a little subdued but I was glad to see people doing normal things even if that meant drinking at pubs and bars in some cases. There is also a big concert happening now in Manchester so people are still coming together in large numbers which is heartwarming.

Today I spent some time with my parents as they will be 44 years married on 7th June and I will be at work then. We went for a walk in the woods and had lunch out. 44 years. It seems like a long time doesn't it?
Well some of you know the troubled relationship I have with my mom. How they kept it together for so long is beyond me. At times I feel like my relationship with her is slightly better as I am managing to take my therapists advice and not take everything she says so personally and I do try to make the odd joke now which I could not have done in the past. Maybe it's a new found confidence now that I have a job and I don't feel like a complete loser anymore. Other days it's two steps forward and one step back with her.

Yeah she gets on my nerves when she starts whining about how awful her life is. Ok my sister and I have difficulties, of that there is no doubt. Of the 3 of us, we will probably never set the world on fire with our careers. My brother is different perhaps. An IT guy will probably be guaranteed a job.

Still she has a lot to be grateful for. She has a nice house, a wonderful husband (my dad is indeed a walking saint), she had a good career (she was so good at teaching that the trainee teachers from the local university used to be brought to her classes to show how you teach and control a class properly). My siblings and myself have good manners and we are polite and kind to everyone we meet.

Thank you mom and dad (especially dad!) for showing me that even though you want to run away from it all sometimes that the love you have gives you a reason to stay. The two of you are proof that marriage can sometimes be worth it and even though it did not happen for me it gives me hope that what the two of you have does exist. Happy anniversary.

That was nice Tetra. I often wondered, as I was growing up why my parents kept together. I still think about it now and again and find inspiration in it.

Hi, weekenders.

It's raining cats and dogs, and it's just +11C on July 5. Come on!

I am watching romantic movies (I am on vacations) and feel extremely guilty about not doing anything productive.

It is recurrent theme for me - always guilty, having hard times to compartamentalize fun and work.

In such a weather I want just to stay home, eat something comfortable and skip the boxing.

And I will beat myself up over for it later.

I am wearing myself out emotionally. And keep freaking out about the results of my thyroid test.

Ok. I've had my share of rant.

Have a good day, everyone .

I hit my goal of 90% on exam 3, was pretty geeked. I love peds. On to maternal-fetal and am glad I used to be an ultrasound tech so I have some transferable knowledge, because everyone is just overwhelmed by the terminology - one less thing to have to learn. Wednesday I get to watch a birth!

I. want. to go. to. a meeting. But i have homework! *cry*

Congratulations Brenda, 90% is super.

All those viewings of April the Giraffe should stand you in good stead for the birth.

Night petals.

I have had a hard day. I came face-to-face with a mouse in my bathroom and ran down the stairs screaming. My mom rolled her eyes and said "I thought you were dying. When we were young we were delighted to get a bed without cockroaches". Both my parents come from farming backgrounds and I don't.
Obviously I've seen mice and rats before. Not as close as that though and not in my personal space! I don't like things that "scurry" and crawl. I detest spiders for example. A few weeks ago at work I was typing away. Sometimes the doctors are not clear on the tape and it is helpful to have the patients chart as well so I was typing with one hand and the other I had on the chart and I saw this black thing moving towards my fingers. I jumped up and the other girls were laughing their heads off and saying "don't put it on my desk, put it out the window". In the middle of this the phone rang and we had to explain that there was a spider and there was uproar...

Anyway I had a chat with my father tonight. I asked him about his thoughts on life, seeing how 44 years of marriage is a long time and if he has any regrets? He said "no way. I don't believe in regrets. Who is to say my life would be any better if I had made different choices in the past? Our main purpose in life is to make the most of the life we have been given. To tell the truth it is a beautiful world. People just often turn the lights out on themselves".

I'll have to get him to write these things down so I can look back on them in years to come.

These are very profound statements. Your father sounds like a very wise man, Tetra.

I know, right? I just have to remember to eat breakfast and pack a few of these ginger candies I bought today, in case I do get squeamish from the blood. lol
