Day 3 for me
Hi all,
All of my attempts at moderation have failed. I have come the true understanding that I am an alcoholic and that I cannot drink. I have been experiencing blackouts and had a bad one Monday night while at a business function. Not ok. Shame. Disappointment. its bad.
Have a lot of family history with alcoholism. I guess I knew that I would eventually have to give myself to the program and was just waiting for the sign that I would never be able to drink. It came.
Starting the process today after a long talk with the wife. My kids aren't old enough to know yet.

Great job on 3 days. I'm on Day 3 too. You sound determined and focused. So good you talked to your wife. Posting here will help a lot. Let others help you stay on course! It sounds like you've turned a corner. Hang in there!

Great you are stopping now before your kids get older. I wish I had stopped a long time ago, but that is not my story. Best I can do is stay the course so I am present for them now. (hopefully I will be allowed back in their lives.)

Well done on 3 days Dave, and welcome to SR.
Lots of support here, and lots to help motivate you. I'm also on day 3, and have also had enough. I also have young kids for whom I want to be a great role model, not an unhealthy and potentially embarrassing one.

I'm glad you're here! And you have a great start on day3 maybe 4 now!! Getting this handled now before you're kids are old enough to feel the impact is a great thing. Believe me they will have you answer when they are teens if you keep going. So stay strong you can do this!!
