115 days but scared about going for tests

Hi

I'm on 115 days sober now - seemed unthinkable not that long ago. Had been feeling absolutely fine but the last couple of weeks I've had some unusual health issues and the GP wants me to go for a raft of blood tests. I've been putting this off since I saw the doctor last week

I know lots of us have been in the same situation and there isn't much to say I guess. I either face up to it and go for the tests or I don't. Google isn't helping of course - so far convinced myself I have one of at least three serious conditions!

Just trying to name my anxiety in the hope it might feel a little better

J

Go for the tests JUK! Let google rest and rely on your GP. Your sobriety has done loads of good to your body and mind, and will keep on doing that. If the tests shows anything serious, just imagine how they would be without your sobriety!
Anxiety is the fear of the unknown future while depression is the pain from the past- the equilibrium is in between: The here and now. Try to stay in the moment.
Wishing you good luck on your tests!

I think you shoudl go for the tests. The likely result is you're fine but if there was a problem it'd be best to catch it early.

Go, do the tests, and put your mind at ease

Congrats on 115 days!

Agree with the others- and KNOW how terrifying it is, before just getting it over with. I knew there wasn't going to be rosy news and am so grateful that I narrowly escaped cirrhosis - I bit the bullet on tests right away and retested everything a little before the point you are (great job on 115 days!!!)....and things were smack in the middle of normal.

Whatever the news, I knew I was better off dealing with it- and staying sober permanently- than dreading and avoiding.

You can do it.

Thanks for the replies - I appreciate it. I just don't think the news will be good and I've always found that sticking my head in the hand is so incredibly easy. Done it many times I'm an old hand

The responsible thing to do is get checked out. We need to face our fears. I had some issues a couple weeks ago and I visited Dr. Google. When I was done I was convinced I'd be dead by midnight! haha.

I was sure my results would be bad too - they found nothing....

Start as you mean to go on - take your head out of the sand and hold it high - go find out where you stand.
