3 day binge..............back to day 1
3 day binge..............back to day 1
Well finished work Saturday and drank 2 bottles of wine. Then Sunday had to go out for food and bought more wine, loads. We had friends over in the afternoon and drank loads of wine. I even started in the morning when I got back from the shop (unknown to my husband) drank all day yesterday. Feel like crap today but back on day 1. I'm back at work tomorrow and am fearing having the shakes and sweats. I've taken vitamins and drank loads of water since I got up. I also have some vallium to fall back on if needed. I so desperately want to stay sober
Hi Pinky - welcome back
I found that my chances of staying sober got better the more effort I put into staying sober, Leave no stone unturned - make a recovery plan - think about ways to get more support, ways to maximise the support you have already, and think about the changes you need to make in your life to reflect your desire to be sober.
It's a little bit of work but you're worth it

How desperate? What are you doing to change your habits, your environment so that they support your quest for sobriety? What are you doing for support? Desperate enough for face-to-face help for your drinking?
We can desperately want to be sober, but we have to be desperately doing stuff to get sober.

SO true Dog! DH keeps saying how much he wants sobriety, although he continues to drink (tries to hide it). We were at our therapy session today and I said the same thing as you "You can't just want it...you have to actually do something about it!" He can go a few weeks without drinking...but then as soon as things get difficult, he has no tools to rely on and he's back at it again.

Will read link shortly when I go to bed
Hi Pinky. I'm sorry you're miserable. I did that to myself many times before finally knowing I could never touch the stuff again. Sometimes we need further proof. It definitely can be your last Day 1. You sound ready for a sane & sober life.
Hey Pinky hang in there! One thing that has helped me that alot of people have said is to make a plan for every day. In very early sobriety i found that exercising can help with stress. Go for a walk or a run if you're able. Be kind to yourself. You're not a bad person getting good you're a sick person getting well. ; )
