Day 6

Experienced major distressing emotions today, but I still did not drink. I just tried to sit with my distress and pain until it got better. I knew deep down that drinking would only make the pain more unbearable. One day at a time of not drinking is my goal.

I had the Serenity Prayer on a continuous loop in my head for at least the first month. Seriously must have said it a thousand times a day.

I remember saying in an AA meeting, "I made it seven days. IN A ROW, people."

That was huge for me, too. :)
