Real sorry you feel that way, but I think there is a reason why we are all here. We all have value. Life is priceless. I know whenever I feel that my being here doesn't make any difference, it's usually because I rate my value based on external influences (and I speak from many years of experience). No life is pointless and every life has purpose. John

One more thing. This might sound a bit strange, cause it is, but I met a guy while traveling. I don't remember what his faith was, but he believed that there is a continum (sp) of energy that is passed from one person to the next. This energy connects everybody in the world. Even the little actions we take like helping a stranger, or doing anything positive affects many others. Sounds a bit out there, but who's to say this guy is wrong? Either way, it's pretty cool.
My point of course is that your life has meaning. John

That music was beautiful InApickle. What did you think littlesongbird?
There is a point littlesongbird and hanging here and gaining real sobriety will show you the way. I have felt as you do, believe me, but I won't cease seeking.

I don't believe your life is pointless for one millisecond. I believe that is how you FEEL right NOW. Feelings are not facts. There is a point to everyone and everything. I believe that whole-heartedly.
I've had days and times when I have felt it's pointless. But those times have always passed and this will pass too. Believe that.

Phoenix hit the nail on the head.
I think a big part of our problem is looking for a point, or meaning, or purpose instead of just living.
It is pretty cool that we get to do this, even if we only get to do it once. It doesn't have to be outstanding, but what does that mean any way? If you can answer that, then start taking steps to do the outstanding things that you want to do.
But none of it's gonna mean anything to you once you're done.

Little Songbird,
I love your name. To me it speaks of courage..someone who is fighting to sing her song of hope inspite of all life's difficulties and obstacles. Don't give up your fight little Songbird. Your unique and beautiful song is needed here for the rest of us. Stay to give us hope little Songbird. Your life has a point in the beauty that it brings here for all us who are suffering too. We need you little Songbird.

Hi Little Songbird...pray you are reading posts here to you & lifted up a bit. I'm not quite 12 hrs out from last drink & renewed hope for a sober, sane & meaningful life, so I'm not one to give any words of wisdom. I do know how you are feeling though...but please mentally tell yourself it's a feeling, not reality. Alcohol is a depressant & on top of that many alcoholics suffer from depression or anxiety or both (such as myself) and start self-medicating with alcohol. But after drink number two the "happy buzz" either starts to go negative or just numb--both of which can make things seem bleak. So of your less than 24 out maybe we can do this together & keep each other payed on struggles?
