A message of hope.....

So I have now been sober for 4mths and 20 days. I haven't posted for awhile but I still read here often. Since becoming sober my life has become quite busy and I'm actually ok with that. Before, whilst drinking, I hated doing anything, the thought of going and seeing people exhausted me. In the end I went nowhere and saw no-one. I stayed home and drank.

I went to my first AA meeting on Dec 9 2016 hoping to find a solution to my drinking problem, what I was gifted was so much more than that. I was given an insight into this disease. I was given compassion, empathy, kindness and support. I was shown that I had a living problem and I had chosen alcohol as the answer to block out all that was wrong in my life rather than face it.

Life can still be challenging, but I am facing it sober now and learning not to fear or try and control things. Happiness and joy are regular themes to my days and it is so good to be someone whom others like to be around.

It is really hard to quantify all I have gained from sobriety. I realised the other day I can honestly say 'I love being sober'.

My journey continues.. and it is better than I ever thought it would be.

I probably sound like a loony lol but I wanted to give some hope to others...it really does get better.

Blessings to you all.

Scruff xx
