Starting from scratch
Hi everyone,
I'm Mel. I used to use this site a couple of years ago and found that it really helped me. However old behaviours ended up creeping up and I came on less and less. My DOC is alcohol and I've been through daycare rehab, gone the AA route, done SMART meetings etc. Complacency has always wound up settling in and now it's time to take responsibility and start doing more for my recovery. I'm signed up to 'Breaking Free'; (anyone else on there?!) and I have an appointment booked with Northumberland Recovery Partnership in a couple of weeks.
I separated from my marriage last summer. I've lost multiple jobs through drinking or being hungover, I've lost friends, my parents fortunately still are here for me but I could lose them too, I don't drive at the moment through fear of drink driving. Fortunately I've signed on to ESA so I'm getting back in to the black, though and I have a lovely new boyfriend who rarely drinks. It's still all to play for.
I'm determined to come on here and take accoutability.
Thanks for reading and I hope to get to know you all better. Oh, today is Day 1 of sobriety (again!!)
Mel x

Welcome Mel. Commonalities in addiction, huh? Breaking Free looks good- evidence based and endorsed by real conservative type. Slwo and stady. The power of your one- is you. One step- turns to a mile - then a day then a month. Strength in unity. Keep posting. PJ
